Another morning, after a good night´s sleep. Having my breakfast with tea, yoghurt and two ”knäckebröd”, adorned with smoked salmon and freshly grinded black pepper. A quiet morning, only the sound of the waves in the sea outside the house. One of my friends has gone out to do his thai chi, the other is still in her room. I refill my cup of tea and look for the ”wordle” of today.
Another couple of friends react to my writing in English – «continue, and write to Joe ». Not now, maybe not ever again.
Since I now speak English most when I speak, here in Tenerife – there is fun to write in English too. Today I met with Martti, and we spoke for a while. Then an old woman (older than me) came, and he knew her so she sat down with us. Immediately she moved her chair closer to his – and they spoke German together. I do understand and speak German, when I hear what is said… I sat there for a while, finished my caña and left for home.
I have been reading a lot of fantasty on Kindle, most of it very much alike. And I get tired of not reading ”real books”. At the same time I wonder why I do not write some of these books, sold for nothing or very cheap. Saw one Swedish author whose book (in English) was sold at a low price – but some 23 000 buyers make quite a good revenue…
There is a market for any book. You just have to write it.
Christmas morning is sunny, temperature 9 o´clock 19 centigrades, a bit windy. No rain until maybe tomorrow. I have my breakfast in solitude and silence, one friend is out for thai chi, and the other resides in her room. Nothing special on today´s program, a walk along the shore maybe.
I walked, waved to Martti on my way into town – bought som napkins, garbage bags and mandarines – and went back to share a caña with Martti, sitting in his chair at the end of tables in the café. We talked for a while, it is somehow very comfortable to just sit with him – the weather is beautiful, people walk by, and it is interesting, feeds your fantasy to watch them.
When I come home there is luncheon waiting – soup and the chicken-like soya bits with garlic, onions, leek, green and red fresh pepper, buillon. Rice. So nice, so good, I only have to eat, and do the dishes afterwards. It will be hard to go back to cooking all by myself when my friends continue to their place after New Year´s Eve. The time is 1.30 in the afternoon. And I walked some 6 800 steps, good enough. This Christmas Eve is not like any other, and I like it.
Admit I miss some really juicy rib flaps, and some of the herrings I used to have on the table, Janson´s temptation (potatoes, onions and ansjovis, done in the oven) – but I live very well without it. And the food I eat right now is not putting kilos on my weight. I hope, have not been close to a weight scale since I arrived here in October. Life is good.
And I always forget to photograph the food before I have finished the meal, sorry to say.

This Pixel-photo of food looks nice too
